About
Electrical delivery for the last phase of utility-scale power projects.
CrestWatt is a UK electrical engineering contractor specialising in utility-scale solar PV, battery energy storage and grid connection projects. The company delivers the electrical scope that sits between mechanical completion and commercial operation: the contestable grid connection, the HV substation package, protection and control, cable termination and testing from DC to 132 kV, and the full testing and commissioning programme through to Final Acceptance.
The company was formed by engineers with a background in commissioning and electrical delivery for European EPC contractors and UK developers. That experience shaped the model. The electrical works on a large renewable project are conventionally split between several subcontractors, each with a defined scope and no ownership of the interfaces between them. The interfaces are where programme is lost. CrestWatt was set up to take the electrical scope as one contract, from the point of connection to the last string.
Capability
Voltage range
DC string level through LV, 11 kV, 33 kV, 66 kV and 132 kV. Cable termination, testing and commissioning across the full range; switchgear and protection supply at 33 kV and 66 kV.
Disciplines
Contestable connections; HV substation electrical works; protection, control and switchgear; DC and AC cable termination; fibre optic and structured cabling; Modbus and SCADA integration; testing and commissioning; electrical site supervision and QA; electrical design and grid studies; operations and maintenance.
Supply chain
Protection relays, CTs, VTs, switchgear and cable accessories through authorised UK distribution. HV cable and control panels through vetted international manufacturers, with freight, customs and inspection managed in-house.
Records
Structured digital inspection and test records, completed on site on the day, with instrument reference, result and engineer sign-off. Handover documentation compiled continuously against the FAC checklist.
Method
How an enquiry becomes a programme.
- 01 Enquiries are answered by an engineer. The response states the scope CrestWatt will take on, any exclusions, the earliest mobilisation date and the client inputs required to hold it.
- 02 Before mobilisation the test plan, record format and witness schedule are agreed with the client and, where relevant, the DNO.
- 03 On site, progress is reported weekly against the test plan with a live snag register. Issues are raised in writing on the day they are identified.
